For the average computer user you really wont need anything more that a basic computer package. You see most people use there PC to do Internet, email, word processing, and a few other basic tasks. Running these sorts of applications don't require much computer power.

Now of days just about any new machine that you can buy will handle those sorts of tasks with ease. Even a machine for $500 or less will get the job done. Many of these sub $500 dollar PC's even come with 1 year warranties. You cant go wrong with a deal like that!

You should still be able to get a very affordable computer. Expect to pay up to a thousand if you would like to take on some digital pictures and video. Here are some specs of you should be able to get in a cheap computer system:

2GHz CPU or faster 256-512 of DDR RAM 60GB hard drive 17' CRT Monitor CD RW (CD burner)

Unruly Tongue

Unruly tongue

Always ready

To hurt someone

Unruly tongue

Careless and dumb

Deadly with devilish venom

Striking suddenly to numb

Subtle and belittling it comes

To steal your life and fun

Throw you into a tailspin

An emotional demise within

The unruly tongue tantalizes

Seeks to get and self-actualizes

Others it speedily despises

As it beguiles and disguises

Itself in tasty tender verbiage

Heartless beneath as garbage

Decaying and corrupting

Infesting and polluting

Portraying and purporting

Purity distorting and diluting

The unruly tongue likes refuting

Any confrontation that is hurting

Seeking to harness and rule

Unruly tongues think they're cool

Yet their words stink like a stool

Though they perch on a pedestal

Proud as a peacock impenetrable

Identify their errors, they're unable

Mentally and emotionally unstable

Hurt people consistently hurt people

Within they're bruised and feeble

Living in a dreadful depth of denial

By the dearth of honesty they spiral

Their internal infection worse than viral

Enslaved to their insecurity and instability

They quickly place the focus outwardly

Dissecting, dismantling, and dominating others

It doesn't matter if they're sisters and brothers

If the unruly tongue had its own druthers

It would continue to be foul and smother

Its own beloved father and mother

Because deep within there is poison

Rage and bitterness like a sour lemon

They need a new outlook and horizon

Their perspective and perception

Needs an alteration and transformation

Their restless soul needs to be whole

Improving their manners is the goal

In a school of etiquette they must enroll.

Socially-Responsible PR: Have a Heart

One of the noblest PR strategies for companies is the creation of a partnership with a non-profit organization. It is not a new strategy -- many large corporations align themselves with the mission of a non-profit. Some even go so far as to incorporate a social goal in their mission statement; they are called socially-responsible organizations.

What is different today is that this strategy is being adopted by small companies as well, including one- and two-person shops. It doesn't have to cost a lot -- or anything in some cases -- and the rewards are multiple. In addition to the obvious support provided to a worthy cause, employees feel good about their employer's benevolence and often participate. The media is more likely to cover an event or effort that benefits the community, and consumers are more likely to patronize a business that cares about the community.

When you think about it, most people support at least one non-profit charity through their donations and/or volunteer hours. The idea of helping a charity that does good work in an area related to your business is a natural extension of that thought.

Are you a home builder? Support the local charity that subsidizes low-cost housing. A caterer? Support the local food bank. A clothing retailer? Help cloth the homeless. A medical practitioner? Organize a consortium of practitioners that offers indigent health care.

Sometimes the cause is so compelling that there does not need to be a relationship with the company's business to realize a benefit. Businesses as varied as building supply companies and car dealers have organized rapid response teams to support the local efforts of the Red Cross in natural disasters and other emergencies. When times are tough, people remember who helped them or their neighbors and they tell others in the community.

Have a heart. There's no joy quite like that of helping others. And when you help others through your business, not only will it help your business, it is simply the right thing to do.

An Air Conditioner Repair Specialist Helps to Turn Down the Temperature

In certain places, the summer time heat can be unbearable. It can even get so bad in some areas that city officials start to encourage people to stay inside. The only time they should be out is if they absolutely have to be. So, this means no leisurely walks in the neighborhood, no playing outside with their kids and no going out to work on the garden. Although this is not a good circumstance, the great thing is that there is at least one place that people can go to get away from the unbearable heat. That is inside the comfort of their homes.

A house with a properly functioning cooling system will make someone forget that there ever was a thing called heat. On the other hand, if the system is not working correctly, being outside may not sound like such a bad idea. Whenever, someone finds themselves in this type of circumstance, the best thing they can do is hire an air conditioner repair specialist. These professionals are able to come out and fix the unit and have it back up and running in no time. Knowing this, some people still refuse to get help. Their main reason is because they don't want to spend the money for the services.

Saving the money and deciding not to hire an air conditioner repair specialist may sound like a good idea at first. However, once the heat starts to really set in, things begin to change. That is because people usually find that when their unit is broken, it is sometimes hotter inside than it is outside. This may sound strange, but it's absolutely true. That's because the house begins acting as a huge oven. Because it's basically a large enclosed space, there is nowhere for the heat to escape. Someone may be able to open the windows and doors, but this is not a good idea either. Once they open everything up, they are giving the heat from outside a chance to come in. So, now the different levels of heat are just intermingling with one another. All of this is happening while no cool air is coming in.

Being in this type of situation can be extremely uncomfortable. For many people, they are only able to go to sleep when it's cold. So, they would never get any rest in a house with no cooling system.

So, getting help from an air conditioner repair specialist is the most viable option for anyone who has a cooling system that is no longer functioning properly. They may be able to survive during the cooler seasons. However, when summer finally rolls around, the heat will most likely be unbearable.

Gangland Chicago - The Historical Allure Of The 1920s

Chicago's gangster history has fascinated world historians and visitors to the city in equal measure since the 1920s. The trauma of gangland Chicago during the legendary Prohibition decade has been immortalised in a variety of Hollywood movies - thrillingly represented in Brian de Palma's 'The Untouchables' and uproariously spoofed in Billy Wilder's 'Some Like It Hot'. But what is it about this decade in Chicago's history that never fails to capture the national imagination?

For many, the figure of gang lord Al Capone is a large part of the allure. During the prohibition years of the 1920s, when the consumption of alcohol was banned in the United States, Capone effectively ran Chicago as his own town and went on to become the most notorious American criminal of the twentieth century. Over the course of the decade, Capone ran his empire from the Lexington Hotel at 22nd and Michigan Avenues in Chicago and profited from the extensive bootlegging racket that permeated the city. The illicit trade in alcohol, and the huge number of speakeasies (establishments used for the covert selling and drinking of alcohol) that sprang up around the city, played an enormous part in the success of Al Capone's nefarious gangs.

What's more, the iconic St Valentine's Day Massacre in 1929 - now seen as one of Chicago's most defining moments of the 1920s - has also ingrained itself in the American psyche. This famous incident in Chicago's history saw the shooting of seven people - six of which were gangsters - in the climax of a hefty rivalry between the city's two main gangs: Al Capone's South Side gang and Bugs Moran's North Side cronies.

Ultimately, Al Capone's arrest in 1931 for tax evasion led to his downfall, and this is seen by many as an ironic - and somewhat deflating - end to this nefarious gang leader. Essentially, the all-pervasive element of Chicago's gang warfare during the prohibition years is what makes it so appealing to history buffs - the amazing fact that one man could have had such complete criminal control over one city, and yet be brought down by such a mundane offence.

Of course, the eventual repeal of the prohibition act in 1933 was seen by many as a signal that the first great domestic experiment of the twentieth century had failed; a factor that further pushed Al Capone and his bootlegging gangs into legendary status. Today, many visitors to Chicago are keen to survey the city's gangland past and discover where old speakeasies were located, and this is relatively easy to do. Simply find a hotel in Chicago to use as your base and explore the old site of the Lexington Hotel, along with Capone's range of infamous haunts. And while this may appear to be a somewhat macabre vacation theme, it's nonetheless one that will provide a thrill for anyone who finds a bit of gory American history entertaining.

A Guide to Ice Skating Dresses

Ice skating from a beginner's point of view may be complete with a warm and comfortable outfit but when it takes a professional angle, proper ice skating dresses are a must. If you are a professional, it is very obvious that you tend to go for a dress which suits the contest's style and the occasion.

Ice skating dresses for a professional or an amateur skater must be ranked on the following points:

1. Girls should make sure that the tights they buy are not of cheap quality material. Also, they must make sure that they are genuine and the cost is worth the material. High quality material for dresses is a sign that how much warmth would the attire provide you. It also ensures that the dress will not get torn when you fall or slip by chance.

2. Competition clothing must be purchased in consultancy with a professional dress maker. The proper fit that is required, the color, the material needs to be well determined before you buy yourself one such dress.

3. It is not necessary that you just buy one pair of skating outfits. You must purchase at least four set of dresses and leggings.

When you are going for a Casual Ice Skating, you must:

1. Wear a dress which gives you proper warmth. 2. To protect your hands from cold, prefer to wear gloves. 3. Never choose a bulky outfit for skating. Also avoid a thick material as it will be an overhead after some time of skating. 4. Girls should choose a hairstyle in which the hair is tied and it is safe for them. If the hair is long, keep them tied in such a way that they do not obstruct your vision or get caught in someone's skate. Another way out is wearing a hat. This will make you look good as well as keep your hair tied and your head cozy.

Pairing Food and Wine is a Matter of Taste

First off let me say that I am in no way a wine snob. I do not believe that there is an ultimate right and wrong way to pair wine with food. It all boils down to your personal taste and the tastes of your guests. Most people like to pair white wines with white meats and lighter meals like fish, and red wines with red meats and pastas. You can certainly mix it up, however. Experiment and go with what you think tastes good.

That being said, some people are still uncertain and like some general guidelines to follow. Here is a listing of some wines and the foods that go well with them:

With appetizers:

If you are serving appetizers such as crab cakes or oysters on the half shell, try pairing it with a light, fruity Chardonnay. This white wine of North America is a favorite of many people and pairs well with light seafood fare. It is also a nice wine to sip on its own before a meal.

With appetizers like chicken wings or antipasto, serve a Pinot Noir. This red spicy wine goes well with both red and white meat and is a wonderful starter to a meal.

With Dinner:

If you are having a fish or shellfish dinner, consider serving a Pinot Grigio. This wine is also excellent enjoyed with ham, veal, or pork.

An Australian Shiraz is a nice red wine that pairs well with both white and red meat. It has a sweet flavor that complements most meals. Serve Shiraz with duck, pork tenderloin, prime, rib, or herbed chicken. Shiraz is wonderful for its versatility.

With Dessert:

Madeira is an excellent wine to serve with less sweet desserts like soufflé or angel food cake. Port wines go well with rich chocolate desserts or cheesecakes, and serve a Sherry wine with mousse or peanut butter desserts.

So there you have it. That is my interpretation of serving wine with food. The best way to know what to serve is to taste different wines and see what you like. The taste of a Chardonnay or a Pinot Noir can vary from brand to brand and region to region, so have a try and see what you like. Experimentation is the best part - with time you will learn what flavors you like and which foods will complement them.

Oregon Long Term Care

The Oregon Office of Economic Analysis reported that the state's senior population (age 65 and older) will double in less than 20 years. The overall population will have swelled by 47 percent; thus, the 65-plus age bracket will grow twice the previous years.

Concurrently, the funding for long term care in Oregon has declined though the demands for LTC increased dramatically. The state has no standardized financial infrastructure that will foster the growing demands of elders for long term care services.

Home and Community Based Services Setting

Home and community-based services are much advantageous compared to institutionalized care. The costs are less expensive than nursing home care or assisted living, helping Oregon taxpayers save more dollars to fund their long term care and other needs. However, the costs of home-based care have risen at levels unexpected by many. Based on Genworth's Financial's 2010 Cost of Care Survey, the home health aide services rise by 36% OR/WA- Portland-Salem while nursing home rates soared up to 8%. The increment in the rates of home-based care is noticeably higher than institutional care, leaving caregiving families all the financial constraints. About 80 percent of Medicaid funds are divvied out for nursing home care, so a lot of elders are pushed to spend down costs for home-based care.

Alongside the debilitating costs of home-based care services, the publicly-funded Medicaid is unreliable in helping residents ease out the problems of long term care; instead, it makes the problem become worse. Medicaid can Oregonians pay for LTC services provided that they have no more than $2000 assets to avail the state's financial assistance program. The Senate Bill 1919 (ch 486) was passed during the 74th Oregon Legislative Assembly in 2007. This bill was approved by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services which enables Oregon's Medicaid program to adopt the Long-Term Care Insurance Partnership Act. The Oregon Long-Term Care Partnership Program became effective on January 1, 2008.

Oregon Long Term Care Insurance Partnership Program

The Oregon Long Term Care Partnership is the recent reform established by the State of Oregon and private insurance companies. This program is a collaborate by two state agencies: the Oregon Department of Human Services is responsible for the Medicaid program in Oregon; while the Insurance Division under the Oregon's Department of Consumer and Business Services supervises the participating companies to market long term care insurance policies in the state.

The difference of partnership policies is significantly better than of regular policies offered by private insurers. This program provides the most sought-after benefit of asset protection that allows policyholders to protect assets should they apply for Medicaid financial assistance. The amount of assets that can be retained is also the same as the amount of benefits that a person get from Medicaid.

LTC insurance policies that adhere to partnership requirements are called Qualified Partnership Policies or QPP. All partnership policies must meet the following federal requirements: Inflation Protection - Inflation protection depends on the age of policyholder at the time of purchase. This helps policyholders to save from the increasing costs of care annually. Tax Qualified - As defined in section 7702B(b) of the Internal Revenue Code of 1986, the premiums paid for partnership policies may be deducted from state and federal income tax returns. However, the benefits from partnership policies are exempted from taxation.

New Car Leasing End Term Fees

When you first lease a new vehicle, usually the last thing on your mind will be retuning that car to the company. However, this is the time that you should be thinking ahead. At the end of the leasing term, you will be required to return the vehicle and decide what to do next. The way each car leasing company handles the return of the vehicle will be different but all companies will conduct an inspection.

They will check the overall condition of the car thoroughly and check the mileage. Whether or not you owe any fees at this time will depend on this inspection and the terms of your contract. In order to eliminate or at the very least reduce the amount that you'll be required to pay at the end of your leasing contract, you need to know what they'll be looking for during this inspection.

Mileage Restrictions

When you signed the new car leasing contract, you agreed to the terms and condition of that contract. One of the things that you agreed on was the number of miles that you would be allowed to drive. If you go over the limit, then you can expect to pay for the excessive mileage. How much you pay will depend on the individual company and should be listed in the contract.

It would be to your advantage to completely read the contract before you sign and make sure you understand the end-term requirements. Know how many miles you're allowed to drive and how much it will cost you if you go over.

If you don't think the allowed mileage is sufficient for your needs, then you should discuss this with the leasing company before you finalize the agreement and have more mileage added to the contract. This may cost a little more up front but not as much as it will cost if you end up going over the agreed mileage.

Overall Condition of Vehicle

Your contract allows for a certain amount of wear and tear but if you go over what they consider normal, then you'll be responsible for the damage. What you consider normal damage may be considered excessive damage by the leasing company. Therefore, this is something that you need to make clear up front before you lease the vehicle. Normally, a few small nicks and scratches will be accepted but not dents or torn upholstery.

Have the new car leasing company supply you with a written description of what type of condition the car is expected to be in upon the end of the lease. This will help you throughout your contract to keep the car up to standards.

Treat the car with respect and take good care of it while it's in your care to help avoid end term leasing fees. It's a good idea to have the vehicle detailed before returning it to the new car leasing company as well. This will help show that you took great care of the vehicle.

Is The Social Networking Tech Bubble Bursting?

Social networking has been all the rage for nearly five years. It's been an easy way for people to keep up with their friends and family, network with business contacts, and reconnect with old friends and lovers. The multi purpose feature of such sites has many wondering if the popularity of it will ever wear off. While most say no it won't, a small number of people are starting to perpetuate the idea that the tech bubble for social-network has burst. That soon the phenomenon will be just another fading Internet fad. But the reality begs to differ. Most everyone checks their Facebook or their Twitter these days. More specialized networking sites, such as Goodreads, allow users to build social relationships based solely on a shared interest.

If one had to forecast the actual future of social networking, it would be more of a case of increased specialization rather than fading interest. See, Web 2.0 as many people like to call it, allows one to develop closer and more personal relationships with people that share a common interest. Rather than attend a 10 year high school reunion, it's also a great way for you to keep up with your friends and family. The convenience of social sites has enhanced the Internet in a unique and unchangeable way. It is not a fad, but an evolution. But all evolutions change. That's what makes them evolutions. So what is the future of social websites?

In simple terms, the future is now. More specialty social networking sites that serves as offshoots and allow individuals to connect with a broader base of people that share the same common interests with one another. Companies are already creating their own social networking sites so that the reach of their employees may go much further than it already does. The hope is to build cohesion across all levels of business. Book readers and movie watchers are growing closer together from the use of sites, such as the aforementioned Goodreads and Flickchart, respectively. People have seen what Web 2.0 is capable of, and they like it.

Another evolution of the technology is that major social networking platforms like Facebook and Twitter will start to take a page from Google +. They will make it easier for individuals to group their contacts into certain levels (i.e. family and friends, co-workers, marketing contacts, etc). By doing so, social networking will allow individuals to keep the various sections of their lives as separate from one another as possible. It's all about user convenience and privacy. As social networking continues to make strides forward, expect great things in both the business and personal senses. That's social networking, and that's the future.

How Much Can I Contribute to My 401K Every Year?

Contributing the maximum to your 401k account is one way to really build up your retirement for the future, and has many effects on your taxes you'll also want to consider. How much you can contribute to your 401k every year changes so this is something you'll want to keep up to date with if you're thinking about keeping your contributions at the maximum level.

For 2010 anyone under 50 years of age can contribute up to $16,500 a year into their traditional 401k plans. If you're somewhere between 50 and 59 and 1/2 years old you also have the option of contributing an additional catch up contribution of $5,000.

A traditional plan through your employer is made with pretax investments, meaning the money is taken from your paycheck each month before taxes are taken out. By the time you've reached retirement age, fifty nine years and six months old, you will then be able to withdraw from the account without any penalties. Between now and the time of retirement your money will have been invested and grown each other, which is the reason why putting off paying the taxes on your current income until retirement is such a great thing--you get to use that tax money to invest and earn.

If you're looking at the current contribution limits and thinking you'd like to add more than that to your 401k each year you should consider looking into additional retirement account options, like Roth IRAs.

IRAs, or, independent retirement accounts, are self directed. This means you have more control and will be able to pick your individual investments. Your investments will be after taxes, which means when you make withdrawals in retirement you won't be paying taxes. The current maximum contributions for Roth IRAs is set at $5,000 for those under fifty years of age, those between the ages of fifty and fifty nine years and six months of age will be able to contribute a $1,000 catch up as well. It's very important to note that people who earn over $120,000 a year are not eligible for a Roth IRA at this time, though this may be changing soon.

Having both a traditional 401k and a Roth IRA would diversify your tax obligations and give you another source of savings, for these reasons it is worth looking into both of these options and considering how you'd like to invest for your long term goals.

Benefits of ASP Dot NET Over ASP Web Application

With the development of .NET technology, many online business owners demand for migration of ASP to Active Server Pages. Net. The reason might be that this latest version of ASP allows programmers to develop more robust, scalable, reliable, and secure software as compared to the software developed by using ASP. By using ASP.NET, web programmers develop software that can easily be incorporated with any application that supports CLR (Common Language Runtime).

ASP.NET web application framework has been developed with superior features that allow easy development of dynamic websites, web applications and web services.

Some major benefits of migrating ASP to ASP.NETare mentioned below:

ASP.NET supports event driven programming. Web pages which are developed using ASP.NET code can display events on the web page. The codes handle options like load, click, change etc and hence, make coding much simpler and organized. ASP.NET has the feature to automatically expire and refresh data from the cache. It allows fast recovery of web pages as compared to ASP. ASP.NET performs dynamic compile execution of code. It can automatically detect changes in the code and enables storage of the compiled code in memory to meet the future requests by the web server.

Besides the above mentioned advantages, ASP.NET applications have the capacity to handle more number of requests as compared to the traditional ASP application. In order to meet the business automation challenges over the Internet, many business owners look for web developers to migrate ASP to ASP.NET. Highly skilled web developers utilize.NET framework to port ASP to.Net, such that compatibility issues between the existing system and the.NET system are minimized.

Apart from changing the file extension from.ASP to.ASPX, there are many other levels of porting that needs to be applied while migrating ASP to.NET. In order to make the web application adjustable to the.NET technology, it is necessary to hire.NET migration services from reputed web development companies. Some offshore web development companies in India have professionals to develop web application over the.NET platform. They are highly qualified with the various techniques of migrating ASP to Active Server Pages.NET, and have the ability to meet the business requirements of their clients. The companies have team of dedicated offshore web developers, who caters to varied interests of their clients keeping in mind the constraints of time and cost.

If you are looking for migration of web application from traditional ASP to the.NET platform, then opt for migration services provided by offshore web development companies. The offshore web developers/programmers will offer you best web-based services in least possible time.

How Businesses Can Avoid The Annoyances Of Automated Phone Systems

Almost everybody has been on the customer's end of an automated phone system. Though the theory behind automated phone systems is that they are more efficient and professional, they rarely work out that way. The experience is usually frustrating and ends with little or no customer satisfaction. Dissatisfaction on the customer's behalf does not benefit the business that has invested in the automated phone system-which is why it is in the best interests of both the customer and the business if steps are taken to make automated phone systems user friendly.

A Friendlier Face Of Business

There are several steps that can be taken to make automated phone systems more conducive for customer use. First of all, the initial introductory message should be brief, limited to a few sentences. Most customers do not have the patience to listen to listen to a lengthy message spoken in an automated voice.

Regarding the options on automated phone systems, studies have shown that customer satisfaction is higher when there are a maximum of five options. Additionally, the system is typically considered friendlier to users if the options are given first, followed by the number. Customers also find it helpful if there is an option to repeat the list of options that has already been given to them.

One of the greatest sources of frustration surrounding automated phone systems involves customers trying to establish contact with an actual person. "Dead ends" that require the caller to hang up and call again only fuel this frustration, and not being given the option of reaching a real person at all is just cruel. The best automated phone systems should avoid routes that lead to dead ends and provide the option of talking to a live employee at some point during the transaction.

Perhaps one of the most annoying features of an automated phone system is not providing an immediate option for the customer to reach their party, or a live receptionist, to speak to. Although the option to select "0" at any time during a recording should be standard, equally as important is the ability of the caller to connect immediately to their contact. Click-to-Call buttons, sometimes referred to as "Ring-Me", are more commonly used now as an option for a caller to request an immediate callback. Certainly this callback option is superior to getting lost in... "press 1 for this" - "press 2 for that" - "press 3 for those".... "press 149 for all of the above". You get the picture.

A Better Way To Do Business
